The Sickle Cell Disease Crisis Care Kit is designed for patients who are hospitalized due to a sickle cell crisis. Prompt pain management is crucial in these cases, as pain medication can be expensive and it often takes several days to control the pain effectively.

The crisis kits include essential items that families typically rely on the hospital to provide during their stay. These kits contain special heating pads to alleviate excessive pain, Gatorade for replenishing electrolytes and hydrating the patient, a thermometer, essential oils, blankets, water bottles, feminine hygiene packs, notebooks, pens, pencils, and more. For children, stuffed animals, coloring books, and crayons are also included in the kits. Additionally, gift cards for food, visa, and gas are provided to assist families with meals, transportation, and parking at the hospital. All items are conveniently stored in a backpack for easy access and transportation by the patient.

The primary objective of the SCD Crisis Comfort Kit is to help patients and their families meet some of their basic needs during hospitalization. Above all, we aim to show our support for SCD warriors and emphasize the importance of "Sickle Cell Matters."

The cost of a Crisis Comfort Care Kit varies between $75 and $150, depending on the size and needs of the family.
